Park People

My #ParkPeople saga started yesterday when I became a regular walker at my local park. The reason I started going to the park to walk Klaus is there are loose dogs, dogs behind unstable fences crazy and zero grass in my neighborhood.

This morning as I approached our park I saw a man “walking” his chihuahua. No leash, running around. Chihuahuas are my first love and I have one I could do that with since he has a reliable recall…… BBBUUUTTT!!!! I would never do that around so many people and other dogs!! Clearly this is a place for people to walk their dogs and most people are great with having their dogs on leashes. So what’s this guys deal? Thankfully I didn’t have to find out since I didn’t see him on the park trail. Most likely Klaus would have been confused and a little worried if (when) the chihuahua would have run up to him, but what if this guy freaked out (even though it would be his fault 100%) and came at me or tried to hurt Klaus?! S-t-r-e-s-s!

The second mega eye-roll came when we were leaving and this girl had three little dogs all on leashes…………………………………….dragging behind them. What’s the plan here? Gather leashes when one runs off to charge a dog or bird? She was walking near the main street too! People, I don’t want to witness doggy disaster. I’ve seen enough for one lifetime. #retiredvetgirl

My last story began yesterday when I noticed a lady with a stroller on the phone loudly saying something about a “huge dog…” when we passed by. Not a surprise, Klaus is shockingly large, unbelievably handsome and attracts good and bad attention, so it made me laugh that she was on the phone reporting what she saw LOL! What was even more hilarious is TODAY girlfriend was packing a baseball bat under her stroller!! I immediately felt a few things: I was of course offended at first, Klaus is the my baby AND clearly the most obedient dog there. He never pulls me, lunges at dogs, people or birds and always looks in control of his emotions, LOL. It’s obvious (maybe just to me since, again, he’s shockingly large and scary) by his demeanor that he doesn’t care about other people. This led me to my second thought. What if he desensitizes Bat Lady? It looks like she’s gonna be there every morning to walk her baby (so far anyways) and I intend on going EVERY SINGLE morning until I can huff and puff my way to a nice hiking trail. Assuming Klaus has healthy hips and body (I’d like to have xrays done in the next few months), my goal would be to hike wherever Johny can hike. With his long cheater-legs it won’t be easy. Lastly, I thought good for you, girl! She’s afraid of dogs, but wants to come to the park to walk. She’s just defending herself and her baby and she’s not the only park-walker who carries a stick. If I were scared of dogs, I probably would have changed parks cuz there are always A LOT of dogs here, LOL!

That’s it for today. People are starting to bother me less. Klaus seems to get a lot of stimulation going to this park and if I walk around the park strategically, people will leave us alone for the most part. Always lots of staring though, LOL!
